Valentines from Nature, February 2021

February comes in with valentines from nature ~ a delightful, fiery sign for the month of love.

“A ladybug sighting has been linked with luck in love, marriage, fertility, crops, healing, and new beginnings in life across many cultures.”

For the last couple of weeks, my home has been “visited” by multiple ladybugs.  They appear and disappear throughout the day.  They hang out high up on a wall, or sometimes make their way across the kitchen counter.  They sleep quietly on the blades of plantation shutters at my windows. Sometimes I allow one to crawl on my finger so I can say a close-up hello.  The sight of them always brings a smile to my face. Ladybug sightings for me have always been singular and rare, so to see so many of them gracing me with their presence in my personal space at the beginning of a new year gets my attention.

As you may know, I am a firm believer in signs that we receive from our loving and protective Infinite Spiritual Teams, so when these charming little spotted messengers appear, I remember that ladybugs are historically associated with good luck in love, prosperity, and protection in many cultures around the world, and I say thank you with a smile on my face.  It’s no coincidence that the color red is associated with love, excitement, romance, and passion.  The Muladhara charka (the root chakra) located at the base of the spine is associated with passion, desire, primal urges and yes, sex, among other things. I welcome this focus on passion and love at a time in my life when I am living alone and attracting a loving partner into my world.  Bring it on!  I am so curious to see what unfolds in the romance department in 2021.

But romantic or passionate love is only one way we feel and express this powerful emotion we call love.  There is love for our Creator, love of animals and the natural world, love of friends and family, and love of ourselves to name a few.  This month I am focusing on my choice of the four most loving cards in the Tarot deck:  The Lovers, The II of Cups, the X of Cups, and the IV of Wands.

  • The Lovers card seems to be the most obvious choice when we’re talking about passionate, romantic love.  But we need to go deeper because this card also helps us think about how we can sometimes lose our sense of the divine qualities of our love. The image suggests the story of Adam and Eve: temptation, choices, disconnection from our own divinity and the Divine itself. Duality is always inherent in any relationship:  positive/negative; advantage/disadvantage; challenge and opportunity.  A loving, harmonious relationship is built on mutual trust, respect, and acceptance of this duality as we make important choices together. To communicate openly and honestly, expressing our own needs and hearing the other’s needs will lead to the unity and love we seek, keeping us on the Higher Path. This card is about a couple who are deeply connected physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  Fire and the Divine. Yes, please.  I’ll take it, along with chocolates and bubble baths.

  • The II of Cups is all about a mutual adoration society between two people. A unified partnership based on a strong, possibly fiery attraction that is equally beneficial to both parties.  I say possibly fiery because this card is sometimes related to a business partnership, but is also often called the “marriage proposal” or “engagement” card.  There is an element of a contractual agreement here.  This relationship may be a new one, but it is powerful and based on unconditional love and adoration in the case of a romantic alliance. This is a physical but also a soul connection that can stand the test of time if good communication is always a priority.  Where do I sign?

  • The Ten of Cups is the total package of blissful, loving relationships and a happy family.  Literally everything is aligned between these two people, and together they have created their own paradise of a life.  House?  Check.  Abundance?  Check.  Peace and harmony at home?  Check.  Family and friends whom they love and who love them?  Check.  This could be a newer relationship or a more established one.  This is true, everlasting, fulfilling love and a relationship and home full of happiness and joy.  All with the sanctioning of the Divine as seen in the rainbow overarching the happy couple.  Waiter, I’ll have what they’re having, please.

  • The Four of Wands is sometimes called the “Happy Anniversary” card.  It creates an image of some sort of milestone achieved by a happy couple who want to party down with their family and friends to celebrate their success. They are living the good life through their efforts, love, and dedication to each other.   Joy, bliss, celebration, dancing, drinking.  You get the picture.  It has been a lot of hard work, but this loving couple did it together and are taking the time to stop, mark the moment, and share in the festivities with their loved ones.  May I bring a plus one?

So, hope you enjoyed my interpretation of the four Tarot cards that relate to couple love as we approach Valentine’s Day. I’m posting Tarot and related remarks on Face Book and Instagram, so be sure to follow me there.   Please take a few moments to leave a review on Amazon for my book and/or journal:  Power Up Your Woo Woo.  And thank you to those who have already left a review.  I do so appreciate it.  Oops, a ladybug just landed on my computer screen, so I will close for now. Enjoy your Valentine’s Day, but more importantly, enjoy every type of love that is flowing in your life every day.  Love is precious. Celebrate and enjoy it.
