ART AS MEDICINE

Dancing, painting, writing, playing or listening to music, gardening, doodling, baking a cake, telling a story, arranging flowers, walking in nature, singing, admiring a sculpture or the full moon like our July 3rd Buck Super Moon…any and all of these (and any other creative endeavor that lights you up), send messages of healing and well-being throughout our brains and bodies.  Add the element of a friend or group, and the payoff goes even further up.  Turns out we humans are hard-wired to indulge in creativity and creation, and the more the better.  We need to express ourselves, communicate, and feel connected to each other in order to thrive.  Take this quick and free little survey to see what your “aesthetic mindset” is Yourbrainonartsurvey.  Listen to this podcast “The Mind-Blowing Science of How Art (and Nature) Can Transform the Body and Heal the Brain” Podcast.  The podcast guest Susan Magsamen is all about the mind-art connection, the field called neuroaesthetics.  Her new book, co-written with Ivy Ross,    Your-Brain-Art-ebook    explains how (among many other exciting concepts ) engaging in one art experience per month can extend our lives by 10 years!  Find lots of info and resources here on Susan’s website  Yourbrainonart.com.  And check out this very cool program Poba.org/healing-through-the-arts  .  POBA was founded as an opportunity to showcase the work of deceased artists whose creative works might not have made it into the public eye. For the fans, friends, families, and heirs of these artists, and for artists preparing for their creative legacies to be presented here, there is comfort and healing in the sharing of these memories and works.  Go here to explore handmade jewelry using discarded/broken guitar strings donated by musicians.  I recently attended a fabulous music festival, Blues at the Top, in Winter Park, Colorado, and when I saw the unique designs of Retuned Jewelry, I just had to get a bracelet!  See what you think.  Retunedjewelry. So unusual, very good quality and such a great idea.

Now, go get your arts on, and thrive in July!

TAROT AND ORACLE GUIDANCE FOR JULY, 2023

Take what resonates with you.

(Tarot deck:  Rider-Waite-Smith)

QUEEN OF WANDS – Confident, go-getter energy.  Determination and focus on creative goals.  Networking and socializing in a fun and inspiring way.  This is vibrant, magnetic energy for July.  Boldly speak your truth and put your ideas out there for others to enjoy. What you want to create wants you to create it!

#6  - (Esther and Jerry Hicks’ Money & the Law of Attraction Cards)  I Am the Creator of My Own Life Experience.  What kind of energy are you putting out?  Joyful, fun, adventurous, creative, abundant energy?  Yes, you can! Where can you adjust your vibe up?  Try to go a whole day without judging or complaining.  It’s invigorating!

SUMMER - (Kyle Gray’s Angels and Ancestors Oracle deck) – Bask in the Joy and Light.  There is so much light and clarity available now.  Do you have any “shadow” aspects of yourself to look at in the open light of the full moon and the summer sun?  Take some time to enjoy have far you’ve come, all you’ve learned.  Follow the path of light and more light will come to you.

FULL MOON IN CAPRICORN - (Yasmin Boland’s Moonology Manifestaton Oracle Cards) This is the energy of our July 3rd Buck Super Moon.  Capricorn energy is highly organized, expectant, and focused.  But sometimes, we need to relax and trust an unfolding process.   Be kind to yourself and others, releasing judgement.  Appreciate all that is going well.  This moon is about releasing what we’ve outgrown and enjoying the clarity that’s there for us.

SCREECH OWL – (Maia Toll’s The Illustrated Bestiary Oracle Cards) Get Creative.  Get clever and creative with any of life’s challenges now.  Try a new way of doing or seeing a challenge.  Use a new resource or find a new person to collaborate with.  Use the resources you already have in a way you haven’t tried before.  You’ve got this!

DANCE - (Jody Bergsma’s Mystical Empowerment Oracle Deck) – Find the rhythm of your heart.  Turn up the music and let yourself go!  Feel the joy - especially with a friend or friends.  Make a video and post it – you never know –  viral time!

May you always walk in the remembrance of who you truly are. And may you never lose your song.
