Investing in Ourselves More, May 2021

YOUR MAY, 2021 WOO WOO NEWSLETTER

A productive way to start taking risks is to invest in ourselves more—our well-being, our gifts, and our talents and contributions to the world.

-Emmanuel Dagher

I recently had the privilege of taking a few days off in the scenic Hill Country town of Boerne, Texas. My focus there was self-care, and while meditating in the salt cave at the Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort (owned by George Strait for the C & W music fans out there), I realized self-care was the perfect topic for the Woo Woo May newsletter.   The salt cave there consists of 40 tons of salt brought in from Wieliczka, Poland by spa owner Beata Huzarska Hatley.  By using such a tremendous amount of salt, a unique antimicrobial (no masks required!) microclimate is created.    The climate is rich in negative ions, minerals and micro-elementary particles like sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and many others.  It is the perfect place to relax, breathe in the pure, nurturing air, and escape into an other-worldly experience.  Upon taking my first few deep breaths, I experienced an overwhelming sense of gratitude and tears of joy came into my eyes. I had one of the most magical meditation experiences ever in the cave. I can’t wait to go back!   https://www.tapatiosprings.com/hill-country-wellness/

Self-care is something we may not always make time for, but if we are not firing on all cylinders, not only are we not feeling our best, but we also limit our resources to share with others… our inner light can become dim.  Of course, eating healthy, exercise, meditation, massage, getting plenty of sleep, bubble baths, spending happy times with our friends and family, date night, and travel are all good examples of ways for us to reconnect with our true selves and keep our light shining brightly.  It is also a good thing to nurture our intellectual growth by learning new things, having new experiences.  I encourage you to look for ways to treat yourself and let at least some of those treats become regularly- scheduled events.  It’s amazing how even a few minutes spent walking or sitting in a beautiful natural setting can recharge your batteries. What have you been putting off in your own self-care?  Here is a short (you can read it in about 1-2 minutes) story called “Being Known for Who We Are,” shared by my friend, JamesPaul Newlin who is an empath and also has a physical therapy practice in Houston. It will remind you how important it is to love yourself first and well as you make your way through this journey of life. But it also speaks to the importance of allowing your support system to assist you when you need it. Being Known for Who We Are.

Power Up Your Woo Woo News:  the AUDIO VERSION is promised by the middle of this month, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.  I completed the work on getting the HARDBACK version uploaded onto Amazon recently.  Now I’m working with an independent company to get all 5 versions available on “wide distribution” which is very exciting because it’s international and will make them available via many different vendors/suppliers including brick-and-mortar stores and libraries.  Hopefully, I will have everything set up by the next newsletter.  In the meantime, THANK YOU again if you have left a review on Amazon for ANY version of the book or journal.  I do so APPRECIATE it, and please, if you still need to, follow this link to leave your honest review of the paperback, E-book, hardback, or journal : ReviewPowerUpYourWooWoo.  Reviews are EVERYTHING in the Kingdom of Amazon.

Before we delve into our Tarot and Oracle Card layout for May, check out this Harper’s Bazaar article shared by my friend Tia McSherry.   Haute Couture designer Dior uses the magic and glamour of Tarot imagery in their spring, 2021 collection in very unique and creative ways,  Dior Tarot Spring Collection.  Be sure to watch the video - I promise you’ve never seen anything like it.

May Woo Woo Tarot and Oracle Card Layout

THREE OF CUPS:  As we focus on self-care, nothing takes the place of shared moments and joyful celebrations with loved ones where love, mutual respect, and a sense of “lifting each other up” prevail.  This is the card of collaboration and creativity among people who truly enjoy each other’s company and thrive on the energy they share together.  Look for opportunities to spend time with people you feel this way about, especially now that many of the Covid restrictions are being lessened or lifted.  A picnic?  A road trip?  A gourmet dinner out or a casual dinner at home?  A Happy Hour which is truly happy?  The figures in the card are dancing together in a circle while toasting their relationship with raised goblets.  There is flow and joyful abundance in their shared circle.

DANCE:  What a perfect pairing to the Three of Cups.  Dance, dance, dance like nobody’s watching or like everyone is!  When you take the time for self-care, you will have more energy, you will feel more radiant and have a bounce in your step.  When your energy is up, people can feel it and will be drawn to you.  You will have a more satisfying sense of being in the flow and getting things done.  Your creativity will feel easier, too.

THE SUN:  This card is all about radiance, the life force, high energy, success, and abundance.  There is also a sense of purity and being in touch with our “inner child” – the playful and joyful aspects of that child.  When we enjoy self-care practices, one of the benefits will be that we will have more confidence and a sense of wanting to help others.  Others will naturally want to get into our circle of influence so that they may bask in the essence of our smile, energy, and good will.  So invigorating!

NATURE:  When I get up early in the morning, just before the sun comes up, I go sit outside on the balcony to hear the birds calling to each other and watch them zip around the treetops.  I am often blessed to see my favorite cardinals high up on a branch or soaring from tree to tree.   I can feel the gentle breeze on my skin and hear the rustling of the leaves.  Just sitting there for a few minutes centers me and helps me get energized for my day ahead.  Nature is my church I often say.  I do feel so connected to the Universe when I am enjoying the beauty and incredible intelligence of nature.  And if you haven’t done so in a while, I encourage you to do the same.  Happiness is found in the simplest pleasures.  Until next month…

May you always walk in the remembrance of who you truly are. And may you never lose your song.
