Your Shadow Awaits You
When the owl comes into our presence, it is a sacred messenger announcing transformation on a deep level as a result of seeing into the darkest places within us to find the nourishment and medicine our souls need. A powerful and beautiful creature with superpowers including stealthy flight and incredible sight. Revered by many cultures, the owl is sometimes associated with an announcement of death. If we can perceive a symbolic death as the ending of a cycle making way for a new cycle to begin, our consciousness expands, our perceptions change. This is the shadow work we must all do if we want to grow spiritually and personally. Shadow work is not easy. It requires us to get real about all the places where we feel fearful, triggered, unhappy, angry, sad, depressed, jealous, vengeful, hurt. Our only enemy is our own limiting and fearful thinking about ourselves and the world around us. What is at the core of all of these shadows? A lack of self-love, feelings of unworthiness, fear and lack, fear and lack. How do we heal these wounds? Acceptance of ourselves as extensions of the Divine is the first step. Then forgiveness of ourselves and others, and a releasing, letting go of all that does not serve our Highest Good. Finding ways to love and appreciate ourselves more. Spending time doing things we truly enjoy and with people who make us feel good to be around. Telling a new story about ourselves. Doing what we are truly inspired to do as creators, not victims. A growing connection with Source as we know it/him/her to be so that we begin to understand all the love and support we have. Meditation, daily time in nature, music, art, science, technology, there are so many clues the Universe gives us to help us find our way. The thing is, if we don’t heal our shadows, they don’t go away. Some of us will avoid doing the shadow work because it seems more comfortable and familiar to remain in a place of blaming others, fear, criticism, judgement, even hate. But if we do the work, the results can be amazing: restored relationships, revitalized projects that we thought were a no-go, new opportunities we never saw coming, peace, joy and love. It’s always within our power to choose the life path we take. Sometimes we just need a messenger to point the way. Please seek professional help if you feel overwhelmed by negative emotions. I thank this majestic creature for calling out to me at dawn and dusk these last few days, for guiding me to learn more about the gifts it brings, for arriving at a time that coincides exactly with my deepest shadow work (so far) and when I am reaping the benefits in amazing ways. May our shadows be cleared, and our healings continue.
